You can soak this natural liquorice in hot water to enjoy its pure sweet taste. In winter, liquorice can be combined well with ginger and in summer with mint. In general, you can simply add liquorice to various teas as a natural sweetener. Liquorice has traditionally helped against stress, colds, ticklish cough, stuck mucus, heartburn, bloating, flatulence and menstrual pain. As with all other herbal teas, it is advised to rotate the liquorice tea with other herbal teas to avoid over-consumption. That's because too much liquorice increases the risk of a high blood pressure, headache, or shortness of breath. The advice is that you can drink a maximum of 3 to 4 glasses of liquorice tea per day. Children, pregnant women, people with (predisposition to) high blood pressure or people with (predisposition to) fluid retention are advised to limit liquorice tea.
