Collection: Rooibos tea

Rooibos tea is not made from the same plant as green, white and black tea – the Camellia sinensis – but from a completely different plant, the Aspalathus linearis. This plant needs a completely different climate than where its big brother comes from. Rooibos tea does not grow in China or Japan, but comes from South Africa!

Unlike green and black teas, rooibos tea contains no theine. This makes rooibos tea the perfect drink during pregnancy or before going to sleep. This is also one of the reasons why rooibos tea never tastes bitter. Rooibos tea is naturally sweeter than black tea. Lovers of sugar in tea therefore doesn't need to add too much sugar, which is good for health.

Other properties include the color and aroma of rooibos tea. This is determined by the amount of leaves in relation to the twigs. The more leaves, the richer the aroma and the more intense the red color.
